Fred Ruge is Maui’s 2014 Outstanding Older American

At the 46th Annual Outstanding Older American Awards Luncheon on May 6, 2014 Fred Ruge was chosen as the 2014 recipient!
Nominated by Janna Hoehn and Paul Laub. Excerpt from the program:
Fred Ruge is an 84-year-old who takes steps every day to help Veterans of Maui through his leadership, fundraising, rides to appointments and shepherding them along the difficult path to VA benefits.  This Korean War Combat Vet successfully lobbied to expand Makawao Veterans Cemetery, worked to create jobs for returning Afghan vets, and he extends a helping hand to homeless Veterans.  During the holidays he serves as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.  Many sing him praises.  We join that chorus today!
Fred is such a deserving person of this award! Congratulations Fred!
